IT recycling company Wisetek is set to create 20 jobs in Ireland.ewaste web

Silicon Republic reported on Wisetek, which is “expanding its operations” outside of its base in Cork, Ireland “with the opening of a new facility in Dublin”, which will create 20 jobs “in the process. The company, established in 2007, works alongside “major ICT corporations to recycle the vast quantities of e-waste generated”, and ensures this is done “under established regulations”.

The site noted that “the practice of throwing away vast quantities of older tech hardware has been widely criticised by environmental organisations” as well as the United Nations, with companies such as Wisetek “now trying to reign in much of this waste”. The Dublin location will serve as an operations centre, in addition to the global headquarters in Cork and “other international centres” in the USA and Thailand.

The company stated at the opening of the Dublin site that “it will provide the entire range of Wisetek services to the rapidly-expanding data centre sector in west Dublin”, adding of the 20 new jobs that these would be “created across both Dublin and Cork”, and would “likely be split equally between the two”.

Sean Sheehan, CEO of Wisetek, commented: “There is a significant and growing cluster of data centres in Dublin which has become a hub for global data centre operators. Our existing Dublin customers and other companies are increasingly seeking global services solutions, for the optimum management of their used IT infrastructure systems, to ensure that they achieve global standards for data security, financial recovery and full assurance that their used IT systems are being processed to their highest environmental standards.

“Wisetek currently has operations in the USA, Asia and EMEA regions and we are delighted to add Dublin to our expanding global footprint.”
